What We Do

We are kids. We love animals. We wish all animals could be safe, healthy and feel loved. Some are not, though, and we help them by helping our local animal shelters.

We do lots of good work for the shelters and raise money for them too.  Each year, we make items to sell at our local crafts fair, Christmas carol for donations and collect supplies for our animals shelters.  We have made pet beds and visited with the animals since 2010.

We’ve been recognized for our good work in local newspapers and on Facebook. We even got a letter of thanks and photos from First Lady Michelle Obama! How cool is that? See our Awards and Recognition page

In 2012, Anna, Jack, and Christopher branched out to also help ShelterBox, an international disaster relief organization that helps people in need after a disaster.

Anna was so moved by ShelterBox’s mission that she and her brothers (Jack and Christopher) organized their first “Read-for-Shelter” read-a-thon where they raised more than $2,800.  Their friend, Xander, participated.  See the ShelterBox Story.

ShelterBox was so thankful that they invited Anna, Jack, and Christopher to attend their annual conference in San Francisco, CA in 2013, and also sponsored them for President Obama’s Gold Level Volunteer Service Award.  Anna, Jack and Christopher receive President Obama’s Volunteer Service Award each year for their charitable work for animals and people.

In 2013, Anna, Jack and Christopher organized the second annual “Read-for-Shelter” fundraiser and raised more than $2,500 as the word spread about the read-a-thon. Xander, Michael, Victoria and John also participated. See the ShelterBox Story.

In 2014, Anna, Jack and Christopher organized the third annual “Read-for-Shelter” fundraiser and raised more than $2,700. Xander, Michael and John also participated. See the ShelterBox Story.

In 2015, Anna, Jack and Christopher organized the fourth annual “Read-for-Shelter” fundraiser and raised $2,400. Xander, Willow and Michael also participated. See the ShelterBox Story.

In 2016, Anna, Jack and Christopher organized the fifth annual “Read-for-Shelter” fundraiser and raised $1,550.  Xander, Willow and Michael also participated.  See the ShelterBox Story.

Also, Anna, Jack and Christopher began to help the homeless in 2014. They volunteered at a local homeless shelter, making a pancake dinner for those in need in their community. They hope to continue with more activities for the homeless in the years ahead.

Also, Anna, Jack and Christopher have helped the elderly.  They have visited at local nursing homes, playing Bingo with the residents and bringing their dog, “Duke” to visit.

See our Make a Donation page for updates on our collections to help animals and people in need since we started in 2010!
